Pink Martini brings back its multilingual repertoire of beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks!
Founded in 1994 by Thomas Lauderdale, Pink Martini became known as the “little orchestra” composed of a collection of musicians crossing genres from old-fashioned pop to classical and jazz. Pink Martini first made its European debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1977 and its orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony in 1998. Their first song “Symphatique” quickly became an overnight sensation in France, leading to the band’s nomination for “Song of the Year” at France’s Victories de la Musique Awards, as well as becoming a mantra for striking French workers.
Pink Martini features a dozen musicians with songs in 25 different languages which have been performed with over 70 symphony orchestras around the world, including Europe, Asia, Greece, Turkey, Australia and more. Pink Martini has sold out performances at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Paris’ legendary L’Olympia Theatre. The musical group has gone on to sell over 3 million albums worldwide through their own independent label, Heinz Records. Most recently, Pink Martini has collaborated on a new release with international sensation, Meow Meow. This album, Hotel Amour, features guest appearances by Rufus Wainwright, The von Trapps, Barry Humphries, and Ari Shapiro.
“PINK MARTINI IS A ROLLICKING AROUND-THE-WORLD MUSICAL ADVENTURE… IF THE UNITED NATIONS HAD A HOUSE BAND IN 1962, HOPEFULLY WE’D BE THAT BAND.”
– THOMAS LAUDERDALE, BANDLEADER/PIANIST
