MOTETS AND MORE!
The Center Chorale sings interesting, unusual and beautiful choral works. Join us for a journey through choral history from the Middle Ages to the Twenty-First Century. Along the way we will encounter motets, part songs, excerpts from major choral works, including movements from Alec Roth’s “A Time to Dance” and the music of one particular Italian Baroque composer, Giacomo Antonio Perti. In his time, mid-18th Century, Perti was famous for his operas, church music and was a respected leader of musicians of his time. We will be performing one of Perti’s most significant works, a huge Dixit Dominus for chorus, soloists, organ, and string instruments. Conductor Joe Stanford says of this masterwork of Perti, “It is equal in quality with the music of the great, well-known composer, Antonio Vivaldi, “Come join us to hear this collage of choral sounds that will be colorful, and entertaining.
