About the Center: COVID Policy

Your health and safety are important to us.

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido (CCAE) must carefully consider the health and safety of our patrons, staff, and artists as we welcome the public to our campus. In keeping with recent developments in the national concert industry, other major performing arts institutions, and Center for Diseases Control and Prevention and state guidelines, the following audience protocols will be implemented until further notice.

Masks are required for everyone in ALL spaces – indoor and outdoor – on the Center’s campus. This includes the Museum, Conference Center, Courtyards, Clubs, Education studios and Theater venues.

Masks are required for everyone over 2 years of age for all indoor and outdoor events while not actively eating or drinking.  Masks must be made of paper or cloth and cover your nose and mouth and fit snugly on your face.

Vaccination/testing documentation is not required for outdoor events.

FAQs

What precautions is the Center taking to keep patrons safe?

  • Hand-sanitizing stations are readily available throughout the venues
  • Custodial staff regularly sanitize high-traffic, high-touch areas before, during, and after each performance
  • CCAE installed all new air handling systems during our closure in 2020. We upgraded to a system that uses MERV-13 filters, which are similar to those installed in hospitals.

Why are vaccinations required for the theater?

  • The majority of artists and performers are requesting that audience members be vaccinated to allow shows to continue while keeping us all safe.
