Escondido, CA — Monday, August 20, 2017 — Bring your dancing shoes and join Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca, Potro Norteño, Región Queretana, Los Montaño, and the Manny Cepeda Orchestra Quartet for live music, tacos trucks, and tequila in our beautiful Lyric Court for Musica En La Plaza. This happens every Friday night from 7pm -10pm in September at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. From Cumbia and Bachata, to Salsa and Norteña, these rhythms will move you to get up and dance under the stars. Everyone is welcome, so don’t miss out!

Friday, September 1, 2017: Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca – Ricardo Lemvo, who hails from São Salvador Do Congo (M’Banza-Kongo), Zaire in Northern Angola, is the embodiment of the Afro-Latin Diaspora which connects back to Mother Africa via the Cuban clave rhythm. Lemvo’s blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms with pan-African styles (soukous, Angolan semba and kizomba) has been described by the Los Angeles Times as “seamless and infectious.” His multicultural music, which ranges in languages from Spanish, Portuguese, Kimbundu, Turkish, Lingala, and Kikongo, is sure to inspire you to let loose and dance away your worries. Friday, September 8, 2017: Potro Norteño – Potro Norteño is comprised of five members who originate from Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico. Manuel Escobedo, Willy Escobedo, Gerardo Rosales, Bianca Escobedo, and Aldo Escobedo, along with their instruments, come together in a conjunto norteño to play Norteño music that is irresistible. They’ll have you up on your feet and dancing in no time.
Friday, September 15, 2017: Región Queretana – Région Queretana is a band that is inspired by its roots in its home state of Querétaro, Mexico. Violinist Hector Aguilar, jaran player Odiln Ledesma, and guitarist Margarito Saldivar come together to bring you a night of Huapango that will have you dancing and singing all night long.
Friday, September 22, 2017: Los Montaño – Los Montaño is a band composed of four elements. Their names are Olmedo Montaño (Guitarist, 1st voice), Marlene Montaño (Bass), Luis Montaño (Accordion, 2nd voice), and Luis Alberto Torres (Drums). They identify themselves as romantic and passionate for the music that inspired them since their youth. They dominate as a variety band in order to please the public, playing cumbia, norteño, corridos, and much more.
Friday, September 29, 2017: Manny Cepeda Orchestra Quartet – Manny Performer percussionist, composer, singer and arranger Manny Cepeda has been making music all of his life. The energy his compositions bring to the audience is nothing but fire and excitement. His unique music enriches your life culturally as well as socially with his unique combination of sequence and live performance. Join Manny and his Quartet for a night of classic salsa and merengue!
