Street Legacy: SoCal Style Masters

Tour Street Legacy: SoCal Style Masters with curators Bobby Ruiz and Dr. G. Jim Daichendt! Expect a fascinating dialogue about California’s subcultures including: the merging and intersection of street cultures, graffiti letter styling, the art of lowriding, and more! The tour will highlight a selection of artworks, paying special attention to the artistic techniques and styles of SoCal’s street artists.
The tour will begin at the front desk of the Museum at 6PM. This program is included with regular museum admission.
About the exhibition:
Street Legacy features artworks from the diverse subcultures of Southern California, including lowrider, surf, skate, tattoo, and graffiti cultures. This exhibition puts street art in the galleries, highlighting some of the best-known street artists in SoCal.
The exhibition features nearly 100 artists representing the diverse cultural landscape of Southern California. New artworks created for the exhibition and temporary mural installations inside the galleries make this a show you won’t want to miss!
About the Curators:
Street Legacy is curated by Bobby Ruiz, CEO and co-founder of Tribal Streetwear, and Dr. G. Jim Daichendt, Professor of Art History at Point Loma Nazarene University. Their combined efforts interrogate the role of street art in the making and reflecting of identities in places and communities.
Access to this program is included with museum admission. Spots may be limited, please arrive early.
