Virtual Lecture

Street Art with Jim and Bobby

Join co-curators, Jim Daichendt and Bobby Ruiz on Zoom for a fascinating lecture about the dynamic world of street art in Southern California!

“The most exciting movement in the visual arts is not happening in a gallery or a museum. In fact, it is much closer than you think and often takes place in the shadows of your own community.

Street Art has exploded as a creative outlet and progressed from a counterculture movement based in graffiti to a legitimate business platform in design, fashion, film, publishing, and art. The enthusiasm, availability and mysterious aspects of some of its biggest proponents only fuel the interest in this dynamic and important art form.”

About the Speakers:

Jim Daichendt serves as the Vice-Provost for Traditional Undergraduate Studies and Dean of the Colleges at Point Loma Nazarene University. He is the author of several books, including: Kenny Scharf: In Absence of Myth (2016) and Stay Up! Los Angeles Street Art (2012).

Bobby Ruiz is the CEO and co-founder of Tribal Streetwear. He and his brand reflect a subculture that is distinctly rooted in community. Tribal’s designs and influence have spread globally, uplifting the cultural impact of Southern California’s numerous communities.
