Field Trips: Art Discovery
Engage students in visual and performing art field trips at the Center or your school site! 50-minute lessons in art, music, dance, media art, or theater are taught by expert Teaching Artists and offered Monday-Friday for elementary, middle and high school students! All lessons incorporate Common Core and Visual and Performing Arts standards. Lessons can be tailored to fit a unit of study, upon request. Contact the Education Department for additional requests that cater to your group’s specific needs (additional fees may apply).

ART
Students explore art techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography or sculpture.
DANCE
Students explore dance techniques such as jazz, modern, ballet, West African, Latin, or creative movement.
DRAMA
Students explore theater techniques, including character building, improvisation, dialogue, and story-to-stage adaptation. Add on a 50-minute backstage theater tour (based on availability), where students can take a closer look at lighting, audio, and stage set up.
MUSIC
Students explore rhythm, tone, dynamics, and tempo. Age-appropriate instruments are provided.
INTEGRATED DISCIPLINE EXPERIENCES
Combine any of the above arts disciplines for a multi-disciplinary experience! Or combine an arts discipline with a core subject or topic from your classroom. Suggested pairings:

ADULT GROUPS
Adults groups can experience arts education by scheduling a docent-led museum tour, an art-making lesson, or a behind the scenes tour of our Concert Hall or Center Theater. Adult rates for museum admission apply.
PRICING
Art, dance, drama, and music activities are $5 per student (with a 12 person minimum). Museum Tours for grades K-12 are $35 per class, for up to 35 students a class. Additional charges will be applied for a larger group. Adult tours are offered at the regular museum admission price of $6-12.
