Jim Wiese was named Executive Director of non-profit Escondido Community Child Development Centers (ECCDC) in November 2014. He has worked for the agency since 2012. He is president of the Escondido East Rotary Club and a member of Elks Club. Jim and his wife Nancy have resided in Escondido since 1979.
ECCDC is a licensed non-profit preschool for children ages 4 months to kindergarten for families working looking for work, or who are pursuing higher education that come from low-income households. Its purpose is to provide a comprehensive, coordinated and cost-effective child development program which includes a full range of education, supervision, health, and social services designed to assist children and their families to maximize their full potential.
Established in 1974, the original Title V direct funding contract came as a result of a proposal written by Lorraine Boyce, then Mayor of the City of Escondido, and Ruth Clothier, the Coordinator & Chair of the Child Development Department at Palomar Community College to the California Department of Education, Child Development Division to support the operation of a Title V preschool program at the Escondido Community Child Development Center.
It was the dream of Mrs. Boyce and Mrs. Clothier to provide a place where families could better their lives by attending school or working while their children were cared for in a loving and educational environment.
Today, ECCDC operates two centers in the City of Escondido, serving over 200 children and families.
Jim will be partnering with Jahnine Flores of Tierra Caliente Academy of Arts.
