Escondido, California – July 9th, 2025 – The California Center for the Arts, Escondido Foundation (CCAEF) is thrilled to announce the “Artful Start: Back-to-School” fair, taking place on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, from 12pm to 3pm. This special event invites students in need to join us for a day of creativity, community, and support.

At CCAEF, we recognize the importance of nurturing a love for the arts from a young age and ensuring equitable access to quality art supplies for every student. Our belief extends beyond traditional art forms to encompass various forms of creativity, including personal expression through hairstyles.
During the “Artful Start: Back-to-School” event, CCAEF will host resource tables, distribute back-to-school art bags, and engage students in hands-on arts activities in our Community Art Lab. Students will also have the unique opportunity to experience our Concert Hall stage and receive a free haircut.
This initiative aims to inspire and empower students as they begin their school year, encouraging them to unleash their imagination and create something truly magical. By offering these resources, we strive to bring new faces to the Center, creating a space where students can come and receive support from various organizations.

“Artful Start: Back-to-School” is part of our Arts for All programming at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido Foundation. We believe the arts have the power to connect, uplift, and inspire people of all ages. By offering accessible and engaging experiences, we aim to welcome more students and families into the creative world and ensure everyone has the opportunity to explore their artistic potential. Making the arts available to our entire community is central to our mission.
Event Highlights
CCAE invites K-12 students in need to join us on August 10th for a fun-filled day of creativity and community. Highlights of the “Artful Start: Back-to-School” event include:
- Resource Fair: Meet local businesses and organizations serving our community and discover the resources available to families in need.
- Community Art Lab: Unleash your creativity in our Community Art Lab with hands-on art activities. Every student in attendance will receive an annual student pass to our museum, allowing for year-round visits.
- Back-to-School Bag: Receive a complimentary bag filled with art supplies, including your very own Passion Planner and an art book to recreate our on-campus murals.
- Haircuts: Enjoy a free back-to-school haircut to start the year with a fresh and confident look. Let’s see your creativity shine through your style!
This event operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with resources available for up to 200 students in need. Verification of need is not required, but students must be present to participate. Join us for a day that celebrates art, community and the upcoming school year!
