FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Escondido, CA – April 08,  2024 – The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is proud to announce the installation of state-of-the-art LED lights in the Center Theater, made possible through a generous grant from the County of San Diego’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Grant. These innovative LED lights promise to revolutionize the theater’s ambiance and significantly reduce energy consumption.

“The new ETC Colorsource Fresnels are a great addition to our Center Theatre. Not only are they very easy to install, but they will allow the CCAE to save on energy usage and materials. They will also give our interns the ability to learn new skills while making our client’s events look even better,” said Amber Steinbeck, Master Electrician at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

The new LED lighting system will use around 75% less electricity compared to the previous system, making our operations more eco-friendly. Additionally, LED fixtures eliminate the need for expendables like lamps and gel, resulting in substantial cost savings over time.

“In alignment with our commitment to community enrichment, the County of San Diego’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Program partners with the California Center for the Arts, Escondido Foundation to illuminate the path to a brighter, more sustainable visitor experience. At the recommendation of Supervisor Jim Desmond, funding the installation of a cutting-edge LED Light system will reduce costs and environmental impact marking a significant step towards a greener, more cost-effective future,” said Candyce Yee, Community Liaison/Grants Administrator.

This initiative reflects the California Center for the Arts, Escondido Foundation’s steadfast commitment to offering exceptional facilities and enriching experiences for our community, all while placing a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship. Within the framework of our Stage Technician Internship, participants will have learning opportunities to engage with state-of-the-art equipment. By utilizing modern LED lighting systems, interns will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology that aligns with industry standards. This not only enhances their skill set but also prepares them for careers in the entertainment industry, where familiarity with such advanced equipment is increasingly essential. Our investment in modern equipment enhances the quality of productions and underscores our dedication to sustainability, as LED fixtures significantly reduce energy consumption and eliminate the need for frequent lamp replacements, aligning with industry best practices for environmentally responsible operations.
