This week is all about….
Do you know what goes on behind-the-scenes at the theatre?
How the actors make those costume changes so fast? How they manage to fly in? Or how to make it snow on stage? Beyond the actors, musicians, and directors in the rehearsal rom, the many aspects of technical theatre work together to create the incredible worlds that appear on stage.
Our incredible Technical Team makes all the theater magic a reality! The Tech Department works with all aspects of technical theatre here at the Center. That includes Lighting, sound, rigging, props, and special effects.
Check out these Technical Theater Fun Facts:
1) We can pick up a car with our fly system.
2) We almost got to put a small ice rink on the Concert Hall stage. Sadly it didn’t happen.
3) We have made it rain on stage for a show!
4) A movie score has been recorded on the Concert Hall stage.
Did you know that there are LOTS of cool jobs in Technical Theater?
Set designers, make-up artists, costumers, lighting designers, sound engineers – the list goes on and on. In fact, The Center has trained many young stage hands who have gone on to become professional Union stage hands! That’s part of a growing group of over 150,000 theater professionals who help make the magic happen on the stage, and for YOU in the audience!
They deserve a pretty big round of applause, don’t you think?
