Escondido, CA — Wednesday, August 31, 2016 — The California Center for the Arts, Escondido presents R&B legend Keith Sweat on Friday, September 30, 2016 in the Concert Hall. Sweat rose to stardom in the 90’s during the golden era of R&B music and has reigned supreme ever since, with trailblazing contributions to the pop and R&B genre. Sweat’s celebrated repertoire, which includes popular hits such as “Gonna Make You Sweat,” “Twisted,” and “Nobody,” will have audiences screaming for him to “Make It Last Forever.” Interviews and hi-res images are available upon request.
The Harlem, NY born singer, songwriter, producer, actor and radio personality got his big break on November 25, 1987 with the release of his debut album, Make It Last Forever. The three-time Multi-Platinum album sold over four million copies worldwide. The biggest hit from the album “I Want Her” hit #1 on the R&B charts and #5 on the Pop charts. The title track, “Make It Last Forever” placed #2 on the R&B charts. After the success of his first album, Sweat went on to record, I’ll Give All My Love To You which landed at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. His third album, Keep It Comin’, debuted in the Top 20 Album charts.
Keith Sweat has thrived as one of Atlanta’s first record industry moguls, creating of his own recording studio and using his passion for discovering new artists. Over the years, he’s produced for many R&B hit makers in the ‘90s and ‘00s including Silk, Kut Klose, The Isley Brothers, Men at Large, Dru Hill, Immature and The O’Jays. In 1997, Sweat teamed up with R&B superstars Johnny Gill and Gerald Levert as the super group LSG. Together, they released Levert and reached #4 on the Billboard 200 chart and the album became certified Double Platinum.
Sweat has his own syndicated radio show, The Sweat Hotel, which is currently broadcasted in 21 markets in the United States. He has also appeared in TV shows and films including, New York Undercover, New Jack City, Martin and The Wayans Bros.
